URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Peachtree City GA 427 AM EST Sat Jan 31 2026 ...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 AM EST SUNDAY... * WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph. * WHERE...Murray, Gilmer, Fannin, Union, Towns, Pickens, Dawson, Lumpkin, and White Counties. * WHEN...Until 1 AM EST Sunday. * IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Gusty winds could result in areas of blowing snow and poor visibility, as well as downed tree limbs. Plan on very difficult to impossible travel conditions. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Wind chills will range from 5 degrees below zero to the single digits above zero today, and from 15 degrees below zero to to the single digits below zero early tonight. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Persons should consider delaying all travel. If travel is absolutely necessary, drive with extreme caution. Consider taking a winter storm kit along with you, including such items as tire chains, booster cables, flashlight, shovel, blankets and extra clothing. Also take water, a first aid kit, and anything else that would help you survive in case you become stranded.
