URGENT - WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service New Orleans LA 1229 AM CST Sun Feb 1 2026 ...EXTREME COLD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM CST THIS MORNING... ...WIND ADVISORY HAS EXPIRED... * WHAT...Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 12. * WHERE...In Louisiana, Eastern Orleans, Lower Plaquemines, Lower St. Bernard, Southeast St. Tammany, Upper Jefferson, and Western Orleans Parishes. In Mississippi, Southern Hancock, Southern Harrison, and Southern Jackson Counties. * WHEN...Until 10 AM CST this morning. * IMPACTS...Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. An extended period of freezing temperatures could cause ruptured water pipes. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must go outside. To prevent water pipes from freezing; wrap or drain or allow them to drip slowly. Keep pets indoors as much as possible.
