URGENT - WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Blacksburg VA 953 AM EST Sun Feb 1 2026 ...EXTREME COLD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 PM EST THIS AFTERNOON... ...WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM EST THIS AFTERNOON... * WHAT...For the Extreme Cold Warning, dangerously cold wind chills as low as 20 below expected. For the Wind Advisory, northwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected. * WHERE...In North Carolina, Alleghany NC, Ashe, and Watauga Counties. In Virginia, Carroll, Floyd, Grayson, and Roanoke Counties. * WHEN...For the Extreme Cold Warning, until 1 PM EST this afternoon. For the Wind Advisory, until 4 PM EST this afternoon. * IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 20 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
