Special Weather Statement National Weather Service Raleigh NC 1257 PM EST Thu Feb 5 2026 ...REFREEZE OF MELTED SNOW WILL RESULT IN PATCHY BLACK ICE TONIGHT... A light accumulation of snow occurred over the Triad last night and into this morning. As a result, slick spots on roadways, bridges, and overpasses remain a concern. Tonight, as temperatures drop into the lower 20s in most of the northwest Piedmont, refreezing of melted snow will result in patchy black ice. Those traveling should be aware of potential slick spots for the evening commute.
