URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Gaylord MI 1132 PM EST Tue Feb 17 2026 ...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM EST WEDNESDAY... * WHAT...Heavy mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations between 5 and 9 inches and ice accumulations around a light glaze. Locally higher snow amounts possible. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph. * WHERE...A portion of Eastern Upper Michigan. * WHEN...Until 10 PM EST Wednesday. * IMPACTS...The strong winds and weight of snow on tree limbs may down power lines and could cause sporadic power outages. Travel could be very difficult. Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday morning and evening commutes. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. Persons should delay all travel if possible. If travel is absolutely necessary, drive with extreme caution and be prepared for sudden changes in visibility. Leave plenty of room between you and the motorist ahead of you, and allow extra time to reach your destination. Avoid sudden braking or acceleration, and be especially cautious on hills or when making turns. Make sure your car is winterized and in good working order.
