URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Gaylord MI 551 PM EDT Sun Mar 15 2026 ...ICE STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 AM EDT MONDAY... * WHAT...Significant icing. Additional snow and sleet accumulations up to 6 inches, highest near the Straits of Mackinac. Additional ice accumulations between two tenths and one half of an inch. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph. * WHERE...A portion of Northern Lower Michigan. * WHEN...Until 8 AM EDT Monday. * IMPACTS...Power outages and tree damage are likely due to the ice. Travel could be nearly impossible. Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning commute. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Travel is strongly discouraged. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
