Special Weather Statement National Weather Service Charleston WV 1137 AM EDT Thu Apr 9 2026 .........ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER DANGER TODAY......... There is increased risk for fire weather this afternoon and evening with relative humidity values between 20 and 30 percent and wind gusts between 15 and 20 mph. Please be mindful of open burning, cigarettes, and any machinery that may throw sparks as these can all start a wildfire very efficiently in these dry and breezy conditions. Please adhere to any local burn laws that may be in effect for your area.
