Rock River At Fort Atkinson affecting Jefferson County. Rock River At Afton affecting Winnebago and Rock Counties. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... The next statement will be issued Friday morning at 800 AM CDT. && ...FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE... * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Rock River at Afton. * WHEN...Until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 11.5 feet, Water surrounds at least 2 homes near the river in the Afton area. Numerous secondary roads in the Afton area are closed to traffic. Floodwaters affect South River Road on the south side of Janesville. Traxler Park off of Memorial Drive in Janesville is flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 7:00 PM CDT Thursday the stage was 9.1 feet. - Bankfull stage is 8.0 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 7:00 PM CDT Thursday was 9.1 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to 11.7 feet Thursday, April 23. Additional rises are possible thereafter. - Flood stage is 9.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 11.8 feet on 04/10/1959. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood && River forecasts are available for some but not all river gaging locations.
