URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Fairbanks AK 1246 PM AKDT Fri Apr 17 2026 ...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM AKDT SATURDAY... ...WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SUNDAY MORNING THROUGH MONDAY AFTERNOON... * WHAT...For the Winter Weather Advisory. Additional snow accumulations between 4 and 8 inches. For the Winter Storm Watch, heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations between 12 and 18 inches possible. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph. * WHERE...Eastern Alaska Range South of Trims Camp. * WHEN...For the Winter Weather Advisory, until 4 PM AKDT Saturday. For the Winter Storm Watch, from Sunday morning through Monday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult with wet snow on warm pavement. Expect some of the snow to melt as it makes contact with the ground, especially during the afternoons. Any wet spots will likely refreeze each night making for patches of ice. Visibility may be reduced below 1 mile at times, especially during periods of wind gusts up to 35 mph this weekend and Monday. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Away from the highway, snowfall totals in the higher terrain may be as high as 24 to 36 inches.
