Special Weather Statement National Weather Service Greenville-Spartanburg SC 1113 AM EDT Tue May 5 2026 ...INCREASED FIRE DANGER UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING... Relative humidity as low as 26% is expected across parts of the North Carolina Piedmont this afternoon, along with gusty winds. Local land managers have expressed concerns about the state of fine fuels, which could become quite dry during the afternoon and early evening hours today. Dry fuels, gusty winds, and low RH will all contribute to increased fire danger this afternoon. Fires will catch and spread quickly under these conditions. For most of the affected area, a state burn ban remains in place, restricting all outdoor burning. You should not burn outdoors when a burn ban is in place.
