URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Goodland KS 947 AM MDT Wed May 6 2026 ...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 PM MDT THIS AFTERNOON... * WHAT...Wet snow. Additional snow accumulations of one to two inches of snow. * WHERE...Cheyenne CO, Kit Carson, and Yuma Counties. * WHEN...Until 3 PM MDT this afternoon. * IMPACTS...Roads, especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Plan on slippery road conditions. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Another round of snow is currently developing across the area where another one to two inches of wet snow is possible. Snow is then forecast to gradually change over to rain this late this morning into the early afternoon before fully coming to an end from north to south by the end of the afternoon. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Slow down and use caution while traveling. For road conditions in Kansas, Nebraska, and Colorado call 511. Do not use GPS for alternate routes or go around barricades. Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while driving. If you are going outside, watch your first few steps taken on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways. These surfaces could be icy and slippery, increasing your risk of a fall and injury. Persons traveling on Interstate 70 will experience travel delays and hazardous driving conditions. Use extreme caution if you must travel.
