URGENT - FIRE WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Lubbock TX 1013 PM CDT Sat May 16 2026 ...RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TO 9 PM CDT SUNDAY FOR STRONG WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR THE SOUTH PLAINS, MOST OF THE ROLLING PLAINS, AND MOST OF THE FAR SOUTHERN TEXAS PANHANDLE... ...FIRE WEATHER WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM MONDAY MORNING THROUGH MONDAY EVENING FOR STRONG WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR THE SOUTH PLAINS, ROLLING PLAINS, AND THE FAR SOUTHERN TEXAS PANHANDLE... * Timing...For the Red Flag Warning, from 12 PM to 9 PM on Sunday. For the Fire Weather Watch, from 11 AM until 10 PM on Monday. * Wind...On Sunday, southwest at 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. On Monday, southwest at 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. * Humidity...As low as 5 percent. * Fuels...Critically dry to extremely dry. * Impacts...Any fires that develop can spread rapidly.
