Special Weather Statement National Weather Service Gaylord MI 446 AM EDT Thu Jun 4 2026 ...Elevated fire danger across northern lower Michigan today... The combination of drying fuels, very low relative humidity values, and increasing southwest winds, will result in elevated fire danger conditions across northern lower Michigan today. Southwest winds will gust to 15 to 25 mph this afternoon and evening, highest west of I-75. Relative humidity values will drop to 20 to 30 percent in much of northern Michigan, with the lowest values east of I-75. These conditions support the quick start and spread of wildfires, so be sure to take the proper precautions to prevent fires from starting. Humidity values are expected to be higher on Friday.
