WATCH COUNTY NOTIFICATION FOR WATCH 339 NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DES MOINES IA 821 AM CDT WED JUN 17 2026 Severe thunderstorm watch 339 remains valid until 11 AM CDT this morning for the following areas in iowa this watch includes 20 counties in central iowa grundy hamilton hardin jasper marshall polk poweshiek story tama in northeast iowa black hawk in south central iowa appanoose clarke lucas mahaska marion monroe warren wayne in southeast iowa davis wapello this includes the cities of ackley, albia, allerton, ames, bloomfield, carlisle, cedar falls, centerville, chariton, conrad, corydon, des moines, dike, dysart, eldora, gladbrook, grinnell, grundy center, humeston, indianola, iowa falls, knoxville, marshalltown, newton, norwalk, osceola, oskaloosa, ottumwa, pella, reinbeck, seymour, tama, toledo, traer, waterloo, webster city, and wellsburg. * primary threats include... scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2.5 inches in diameter possible. scattered damaging wind gusts to 60 mph possible. a tornado or two possible.
