URGENT - WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Buffalo NY 123 PM EDT Thu Jun 18 2026 ...HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph. * WHERE...Erie, Niagara, Orleans, Monroe, Jefferson, Lewis, Genesee, Wyoming, Livingston, Ontario, and Chautauqua Counties. * WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Strong winds will blow down trees and power lines. Scattered power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Fully leafed out trees will result in more tree damage than with similar wind speeds during the colder months of the year. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees. If possible, remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if you must drive.
