URGENT - FIRE WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Flagstaff AZ 1041 AM MST Thu Jun 25 2026 ...RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM MST /NOON MDT/ FRIDAY TO 8 PM MST /9 PM MDT/ SUNDAY... * WHAT...Critical fire weather conditions expected. Southwest winds 15-25 mph, gusts to 40 mph Friday, southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph Saturday and Sunday. Expect winds to remain elevated Saturday night. Relative humidity as low as 7 percent desert areas, to 15-20 percent in forested locations. * WHERE...Kaibab Plateau, Marble and Glen Canyons, Grand Canyon Country, Coconino Plateau, Yavapai County Mountains, Northeast Plateaus and Mesas Hwy 264 Northward, Chinle Valley, Chuska Mountains and Defiance Plateau, Little Colorado River Valley in Coconino County, Little Colorado River Valley in Navajo County, Little Colorado River Valley in Apache County, Western Mogollon Rim, Eastern Mogollon Rim, White Mountains, Northern Gila County, Yavapai County Valleys and Basins, Oak Creek and Sycamore Canyons, Black Mesa Area, and Northeast Plateaus and Mesas South of Hwy 264. Fires will have the potential to exhibit extreme fire behavior. Elevated potential for new fire starts. Winds may damage power lines resulting in new fire starts. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Do your part: No open flames or sparks, keep vehicles off of dry grass, properly dispose of cigarette butts, and avoid power equipment that creates sparks.
