URGENT - FIRE WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Flagstaff AZ 1230 PM MST Sun Jun 28 2026 ...RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM MST /9 PM MDT/ THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Critical fire weather conditions expected. Southwest winds 20 to 35 mph with gusts 45 to 55 mph and relative humidity 8 to 16 percent. * WHERE...Kaibab Plateau, Marble and Glen Canyons, Grand Canyon Country, Coconino Plateau, Yavapai County Mountains, Northeast Plateaus and Mesas Hwy 264 Northward, Chinle Valley, Chuska Mountains and Defiance Plateau, Western Mogollon Rim, Northern Gila County, Yavapai County Valleys and Basins, Oak Creek and Sycamore Canyons, and Black Mesa Area. This includes portions of the Coconino, Kaibab, Prescott, and Tonto national forests. * WHEN...Until 8 PM MST /9 PM MDT/ this evening. * IMPACTS...Rapid spread and growth of any new or existing fires. Fires will have the potential to exhibit extreme fire behavior. Elevated potential for new fire starts. Winds may damage power lines, resulting in new fire starts. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Do your part: No open flames or sparks, keep vehicles off of dry grass, properly dispose of cigarette butts, and avoid power equipment that creates sparks.
