URGENT - WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Gaylord MI 109 AM EDT Mon Jun 29 2026 ...EXTREME HEAT WATCH IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH THURSDAY EVENING... * WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values between 95 and 103 possible. * WHERE...Much of Northwest Lower Michigan. This includes Beaver Island and Bois Blanc Island. * WHEN...From Tuesday afternoon through Thursday evening. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Tuesday will likely feature the most extreme conditions for most, with heat indices exceeding 100 degrees. Although mid-week temperatures are dependent on thunderstorm development, prolonged high humidity and limited overnight cooling will lead to compounding heat stress throughout the week. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
