URGENT - WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Albany NY 136 PM EDT Wed Jul 1 2026 ...EXTREME HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT FRIDAY... * WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values of 105 to 110 expected. * WHERE...Litchfield county in Connecticut, southern Berkshire county in Massachusetts, Bennington and eastern Windham counties in Vermont, and in eastern New York the following counties: southern Herkimer, southern Fulton, Montgomery, Schoharie, Albany, Schenectady, Saratoga, southeast Warren, Washington, Rensselaer, Columbia, eastern Greene, Dutchess, and Ulster. * WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...There will be little to no relief at night, with low temperatures in the 70s along with humid conditions persisting across much of the area tonight and Thursday night. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Stay cool, stay hydrated, stay informed.
