URGENT - WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Northern Indiana 823 PM EDT Wed Jul 1 2026 ...EXTREME HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT /7 PM CDT/ THURSDAY... * WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with peak afternoon heat index values from 100 to 110 degrees expected. * WHERE...Portions of northern Indiana, southwest Michigan, and northwest Ohio. * WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT /7 PM CDT/ Thursday. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Peak afternoon heat indices around 100 degrees may extend into Friday. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
