Air Quality Alert Message Relayed by National Weather Service Pittsburgh PA 1106 AM EDT Sun Jul 19 2026 ...AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT FOR SUNDAY JULY 19... The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has issued a Code Orange Air Quality Alert for Sunday July 19th for the following counties in western Pennsylvania: Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Lawrence, Mercer, Armstrong, Indiana, Westmoreland, Washington, Greene, and Fayette. A code ORANGE air quality alert means that air pollution concentrations within the region may become unhealthy for sensitive groups. Sensitive groups include children, the elderly, and people suffering from asthma, heart disease, or other lung diseases. The effects of air pollution can be minimized by avoiding outdoor exercise or strenuous activity.
