URGENT - WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Austin/San Antonio TX 711 PM CDT Sun Aug 23 2026 ...EXTREME HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT MONDAY... ...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM MONDAY TO 7 PM CDT WEDNESDAY... * WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with temperatures up to 107 and heat index values up to 110 are expected Monday afternoon. Temperatures up to 105 are expected Tuesday and Wednesday. * WHERE...Bastrop, Burnet, Llano, Travis, and Williamson Counties. * WHEN...For the Extreme Heat Warning, until 7 PM CDT Monday. For the Heat Advisory, from 7 PM Monday to 7 PM CDT Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.
