URGENT - WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Morristown TN 1249 AM EDT Sat Sep 5 2026 ...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT /7 PM CDT/ THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Heat index values up to 107. * WHERE...A portion of East Tennessee, primarily in valley locations, will be most likely to approach heat indices near or slightly above 107 during the peak heat of the late afternoon hours. * WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT /7 PM CDT/ this evening. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
