BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED Flash Flood Warning National Weather Service Flagstaff AZ 1055 PM MST Fri Sep 11 2026 The National Weather Service in Flagstaff has extended the * Flash Flood Warning for... Gila County in east central Arizona... * Until 100 AM MST. * At 1055 PM MST, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain in Fossil Creek and Hardscrabble Creek near Strawberry. A stream gauge along Fossil Creek measured a rise of 1.5 feet, but additional rises may be possible. Between 3 and 5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, normally dry washes, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... The Toilet Bowl, Fossil Creek Waterfall, Fossil Creek Day Use Area, Strawberry and Fossil Springs Wilderness. This includes State Route 87 between mile markers 271 and 272. This includes the following swimming holes... All swimming holes and waterfalls on Fossil Creek and Fossil Creek Dam "The Toilet Bowl". This includes the following creeks, washes and rivers... Hardscrabble Creek and Fossil Creek. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Flooding of washes and creeks will occur, some dirt roads will become muddy and impassable. Paved roads and underpasses could become flooded as well. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Stay away or be swept away! The banks of creeks and washes are unstable and unsafe during any flooding event. Get out of washes and creeks if you are camping or hiking!
