Coastal Hazard Message National Weather Service San Diego CA 113 PM PDT Fri Aug 10 2018 ...MINOR COASTAL FLOODING DURING EVENING HIGH TIDES THROUGH SATURDAY... ...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING... * High Tides... Newport Beach: 7.06 FT at 9:06 PM this evening. 6.96 FT at 9:53 PM Saturday. La Jolla: 7.06 FT at 9:01 PM this evening. 6.95 FT at 9:48 PM Saturday. * Surf...3 to 5 ft. Sets 6 to 7 ft this afternoon. Highest surf on south-facing beaches in Orange County. * Timing...During the evening high tides through Saturday. * Locations...Areas susceptible to flooding during high tides, particularly Seal Beach, Sunset Beach, Newport Beach, Balboa, Oceanside Beach and Imperial Beach. * Impacts...Low lying roads or parking lots near the water's edge may experience minor tidal overflow during the highest tide cycles. Strong rip and longshore currents will create dangerous swimming conditions and enhance the flooding effects of the high tides Friday and Saturday. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A beach hazards statement is issued when threats such as strong rip currents...elevated surf heights...minor tidal overflow...or lightning are possible at local beaches. Obey posted warning signs and flags and talk to a lifeguard before swimming. Use caution when in or near the water and always swim near a lifeguard.
