A big change in the weather is currently underway, culminating in much cooler temperatures and quite a few showers on Saturday. A few thunderstorms will track across Western Washington on Saturday, posing a risk of lightning. Any lightning will favor the coast in the morning, then spread into the Puget Sound Lowlands from late morning through Saturday afternoon. For those who will be outdoors, be lightning-safe by heading indoors or getting inside a vehicle if you hear thunder approach. If you plan to head to high elevations in the Cascades or Olympic Mountains, be ready for a turn to cold weather. Above 3000 feet, high temperatures will only be in the 50s. Above 5500 feet, highs will remain in the 40s.
