DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 300 PM CST (2100 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Genevieve was located near latitude 9.2 North, longitude 101.9 West. Genevieve is moving toward the west-northwest near 13 mph (20 km/h), and this general motion is expected to continue for the next several days. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts. Significant strengthening is forecast during the next few days, and the cyclone is expected to reach hurricane intensity over the weekend. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 45 miles (75 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1001 mb (29.56 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- None.
